Gathering Stories: Weaving a Living Altar of Reflection.
“won’t you celebrate with me
what i have shaped into
a kind of life? i had no model.
born in babylon
both nonwhite and woman
what did i see to be except myself?
i made it up
here on this bridge between
starshine and clay,
my one hand holding tight
my other hand; come celebrate
with me that everyday
something has tried to kill me
and has failed.”
—Lucille Clifton
We are creating a living altar composed of reflections on our favorite cohort elements, practices, stories, and most resonant learnings—gathering the gifts of all that we’ve cultivated along our journey in FREEDOM LAND’S Mindfulness & Healing Justice Cohort. Won’t you celebrate with us?
The invitation was simple: cohort guides & participants were invited to reflect on a series of contemplative questions and then offer a creative response in a modality of their choosing. This is also a practice in modeling more accessible, equitable, and multidisciplinary approaches to assessment that are more aligned with Liberatory and decolonial values.
